In order to address the individual LEDs a special connection is used rather that directly powering the seperate channels. This is called SPI and required a specific controller. The controller holds effect sequences it can play when triggered. We have these kind of controllers available. Another widely-used control protocol is DMX which is suited to longer distances and can be integrated with SPI easily. DMX is widely used for commercial projects.
Animated, addressable effects are suitable for eye-catching decoration but can also be used in other interesting ways. When integrated into a complete system they can enhance and bring attention to the architecture, features and even provide visual cues.
There are several basic control methods for addressable effects
Single-shot - effect runs one time - say for example when the lights are turned on.
Continous - effect runs in a loop - e.g. colour a gradient changing smoothly slowly over time
Static - addressable strips dont need to be animated and can just be used to position certain colours in specific places along their length. Or even just a single colour in certain places and other LEDs are off.
Use reflected off a surface or indirectly and dim it down for more subtlety.
For a professional installation, match with suggested suitable profiles. Total power must be calculated and an appropriate power supply chosen. As a rule-of-thumb, to be safe do not exceed 80% of the power supplies maximum power specification. Different power rated strip models can be connected to the same power supply as long as the total consumption is observed.
IP68 protection is used for all addressable models. A silicone-injected silicone shell protects the strip from water and allows it to be wiped free of dust
Adhesive peel-off 3M tape backing allows direct secure mounting inside profiles or upon other surfaces.
